What Is GitLab Platform
GitLab is a complete DevOps platform that covers the entire development lifecycle in one place - from planning and source control through code review and packages to security and deployment. CI/CD is only one part of it; this training focuses on the platform as a whole, so your team gets the most out of it.
How the Training Works
The training is a hands-on workshop. You will try everything on your own project - we’ll create groups and projects, configure permissions, walk through merge requests and code review, and show how to connect GitLab to registries and security tooling.
What You Will Learn
- Instance structure: groups, subgroups, and projects
- Managing users, roles, and permissions
- Working with repositories, branching strategies, and protected branches
- Merge requests, code review, and approval rules
- Issues, boards, and work planning
- Package and Container Registry
- Security overview: SAST, dependency, and secret scanning
- CI/CD overview and how it ties into the rest of the platform
- Differences between GitLab.com (SaaS) and self-managed instances
